Interstate students go the distance for devils

The Mercury: Interstate students go the distance for devils [11oct05]

SICK Tasmanian devils are getting help from friends as far as 3000km away.

The Perth-based Devils in Danger Club, comprising West Australian college students, was formed by concerned environmental studies teacher Marnie Taggart.

Ms Taggart fell in love with the devils at Something Wild sanctuary near Tasmania's National Park two years ago on her honeymoon.

On returning to Perth she was determined to do something to help combat devil facial tumour disease, which has dramatically reduced devil numbers.

She has been the driving force behind the club, which includes students from Kingsway Christian College and The Lake Joondalup Baptist College.
