Cheeky NZ pinot snatches top honours.

Cheeky NZ pinot snatches top honours. 24/11/2005. ABC News Online

A drop of red from across the Tasman has again outshone Tasmania's top wines, at the International Wine Show in Hobart.

The 2004 Villa Maria Reserve from New Zealand has been named the Best Pinot Noir at the show, narrowly beating the winner of the Tasmanian Pinot section - the 2003 Barringwood Park.

It is the fourth year in a row that Tasmania's finest drops have lost out to New Zealand's biggest winemaker, in what is considered one of the State's strongest categories.
