NEW CEO FOR TOURISM TASMANIA - Paula Wriedt, MHA - Tasmanian Government Media Releases

The State Government today announced the appointment of Felicia Mariani as the new CEO of Tourism Tasmania.

Tourism Minister Paula Wriedt said Ms Mariani, who is currently director of Marketing for Tourism New South Wales, has had extensive experience in the travel and tourism industry in Australia.

?I am delighted to announce Ms Mariani?s appointment from a very strong field of candidates,? Ms Wriedt said.

?She has an extensive knowledge of the tourism sector, including regional tourism with a particular strength in marketing and distribution.

?Ms Mariani is highly motivated to take on the top job in Tourism Tasmania as the next step in her career.

?She is innovative and energetic and has a vision for the industry which I?m sure she will be able to implement.?

Ms Wriedt said Ms Mariani had worked for Tourism Sydney, Connex Group Australia, Tourism Victoria and Tourism New South Wales.

She has an Associate Degree in Business Administration and has obtained several certificates in direct marketing, presentation and negotiation skills.

Ms Wriedt paid tribute to Rowan Sproule, who has been acting CEO since Rob Giason left in September to take up a position in northern Queensland.

?Rowan has done an outstanding job,? she said.

?He has contributed to our vision of a dynamic industry leading the State?s economic prosperity.?

Ms Mariani will take up her new position on January 30, 2006.


Ms Mariani will be in Hobart and available for interview on Monday afternoon.
