Plans are in place across the nation to celebrate the christening of the first heir to the Danish royal throne with Australian lineage.

While details of the service in Denmark are under wraps, Melbourne's Danish Club spokeswoman Rikkie Peterson says a feast is planned but this time there will be no vikings.

"We don't think it's appropriate to have fully fledged vikings to come in full armoury on the day like we did when the baby was born, so we'll just having feasting, play time, face painting," she said.

Danish Trade Commission spokeswoman Lisbeth Madsen says speculation still surrounds the three-month-old prince's name, although he has already been nicknamed "Kingaroo".

"I think most people are going for Christian now but there's been a lot of different names going around," she said.

In Sydney, there will be a Royal Christening Brunch and a head-wetting party at the Slip Inn, where Princess Mary first met her Prince.
