A picture frame made from Tasmanian timbers will be sent to Crown Prince Frederick and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark to commemorate the christening of their son later this month.

The Prince was born last October and will be christened in Copenhagen on January 21.

The present is a gift from Tasmania's Liberal senators.

Tasmanian Liberal Senator Guy Barnett displayed the A4-sized photo frame in Launceston this morning.

"It's the same timber as the strands of trees presented to the Danish royals as a wedding gift last year by the Prime Minister - being the huon pine, the cider gum and the snow gum," he said.

"Nine trees were given as a gift."
